Clay Princess – New Products – May 2009

A little while ago I posted a comparison between the three known available Sugarcraft/Clay guns, The Difference between Sugarcraft Guns (aka Clay Guns).

35155Since then I’ve had several people tell me that they’ve bought the gun and they love it!  So, so far a big thumbs up! Want to hear something even better?  Clay Princess  now have two new packs of additional discs.  Yes it is true!  Can’t believe there could be that many more different discs well check them out here’s Set A and there is also a Set B.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there!  Clay Princess have some even more exciting new products.  They include 2 new flower ejector cutter sets (3 in the pack in different sizes).  New texture sheets and new flower and leaf cutter sets, some of which also include their own embossers.

Any of these items could help extend your current cake decorating kit!

apm36mFor those of you new to Clay Princess and their products, my favourite moulds are their sculpy range.  Take a good look around and you will soon notice some of these fun creations on cupcakes and cakes alike.  To use fondant in them simply dust with some cornflour or spritz with a little cooking spray.

Just remember once you use the products for cake decorating don’t mix and match them, if you like to use clay also keep the clay used ones for the clay and the food used ones for food! Yep any excuse to have at least two sets of everything!

Cheap Shops, Cheap Tools, Getting Creative

Some people might think a cheap shop, a $2 shop, considered a cake decorating supplier, what!!!

But let me try to change your mind :D , places like Hot Dollar are just a crazy treasure trove of cake decorating materials. From cheap paper, plastic and ribbon to cover your boards, to boxes to organise your tools, to cake tins, cupcake wrappers and kitchen tools, to as big as your imagination can stretch!

See the thing is you can buy the most expensive tool there is, if it works for you that’s OK, you should keep using that tool. BUT what if you just don’t have the money, what if you are just starting out and want to try a few things before committing fully to the hobby, what if you are just someone who likes to see what they can do with stuff both cheap and expensive, what if, what if, what if! ;)

I adore cheap shops, their kitchen sections provide a treasure trove of cupcake liners and mini cutters, skewers, tins and so much more. Then there are the craft sections with scrapbooking materials and not to forget the tool section with their containers that make for great storage! You really are only limited by your imagination! And seriously you spend $2 and it doesn’t work out no big loss! But I do challenge you to only spending $2 when you walk into one of these places!

Couture Cupcake Wrappers by Cupcake Savvy

So cake decorating isn’t only limited to cakes, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, chocolates, all of these mediums can used as a decorating medium or in decorating! Cupcakes are big business these days with popular cupcake towers replacing a traditional cake or being used in addition to a smaller cake!

cupcakewrapper_victorianOne new popular feature is the laser cupcake wrapper, these pretty cases aren’t what you bake the cupcake in, they are what you display it in, adding to the design you create or to pretty up simply done delicious cupcakes.

They are more difficult to find in Australia and with the current down turn in the market they become very expensive to purchase from overseas.

One of our favourite suppliers Cupcake Savvy, who sell perspex cupcake stands that screw together, and thus can be stored flat packed, are proud to introduce their new Couture Cupcake Wrapper Line.

cupcakewrapper_hearts cupcakewrapper_floral cupcakewrapper_baby

The currently have four pretty designs Victorian, Hearts, Floral and Baby.

There are 12 in a pack for $11.95, which is just under $1 each.

Keep an eye out for the range to expand in design and colours.

Once you’ve bought them and tried them, make sure you email Cupcake Savvy with the pictures, she loves to display customer pictures on her site so new customers can see all the exciting things you can do with them!

Would you like to win a set to try out?  Check out the new Couture Cupcake Wrapper Competition.
