Blog Template Change

Thank you for your patience with the recent blog template change. I had several people contact me with issues in being able to access the blog, so I hope the template change and hopefully some simplification rectifies this issue.

Keep your eyes on the blog, lots of information coming up soon!

PLEASE NOTE: You now have the option to change your password!  Login with the password sent to you, scroll down until you find the change password option and type in your new password.  Remember to select the save changes button at the bottom of the page.  Hopefully this will make logging in to comment easier!

Forum Closure

EDIT:  May 2009 – Due to receiving quite a few emails with people seeking advice, I’ve implemented a very simply rudimentary forum (see the forum link at the top of the page) as a place for people to ask questions and gain advice from hopefully a variety of sources.  Logging into the blog means you are automatically logged into the forum at the same time.  You will need to re-register on the blog, your login in from the previous forum will not work.  It’s a new registration process.  This helps screen spam.  This is really just a space to ask and reply to questions it won’t be moderated to the extent the previous forum was.  Thanks!

So for those of you who aren’t up to speed it is true the Cakes and More Forum has closed. Typing in http://www.cakesandmore.org will shortly direct you to the blog.

It was not a decision made lightly. And as many of you may now be aware, there is much more to the story than meets the eye, but I don’t want to go into this here.  It’s time for new beginnings. I truly appreciate the many well wishes and supporting thoughts and hope to keep in touch with many of you and see here on the blog. Over the coming months I’ll be trying to make sure all the useful information from the forum is published, I already have quite a few things on here. If you want to see something sooner rather than later, than feel free to contact me with your request and I’ll endeavour to move posting the information up the list.

All information that comes from the forum will be referenced either to a member directly or to member contributions as is done with many of our FAQ’s. I don’t claim this information as mine but as a collaboration bourne from discussions and research. Anyone who wishes to be referenced directly should also contact me with their request.

In addition if you’d like to contribute to the blog then again please don’t hesitate to contact me with your information and pictures if you have any! This can be anything related to cake decorating, a recipe, an experience you had decorating, a tutorial, a class, a meeting, a competition, you are only limited by your imagination. It can even be as simple as a link to a supplier or a tutorial or video you would like to see added to the links list. Hopefully I’ll be able to start adding in more of my experiences as well.

Many grateful thanks again to those who have shown such wonderful support. I don’t know what may happen down the line but for now this is the path I feel I need to focus on. Once some time has passed we may look at revisiting some other options.  I hope to still see and hear from many of you. Don’t be strangers. Let’s view it as a new beginning! Really it’s just a change in format, there’s still opportunity to leave comments, ask questions, and share information and experiences.

If you’ve gotten this far and you missed out on grabbing contact details for friends from the forum, please email me with their username and I will pass your email onto them.

Cakes and More wish everyone a wonderfully happy and merry Christmas and a safe, prosperous, yummy cake New Year.
