What to do with Leftovers & Storage Ideas

So you’ve been to your nearest Hot Dollar or Cheap shop and you’ve picked up some containers and you are wondering what to do with them.

You also have all these spare bits of fondant left over that you don’t know what to do with, or just end up going hard! And how on earth do people store their flower wire it so long and fiddly….

Well here are some ideas for you to make of what you will! Once you’ve finished a cake decorating job and surveyed the left over bits of fondant etc take some time to sit down and make some blossoms or pearls or do you have some moulds, make a few items from them, try some quick ribbon roses, there is no hard or fast rules, just use up that fondant with some of your tools, you can even make some rose cones or leaves, whatever your heart desires. Then take your newly bought containers and fill them up! Next time you get a last minute order that you can’t say no too, use those blossoms and you will be done in half the time! :D

And what about storing wires, I found these containers at Hot Dollar and thought they would make FANTASTIC wire storers, I cut the wire to size and filled them up, labelling them so I wouldn’t forget which one was what size. I can’t take credit for the idea I saw a lady at one of my Guild meetings with something similar and thought it was brilliant! Lately I’ve seen some cake decorating shops with flat pieces of material that have pockets in them for wire storage. They roll up like those old roll up jewellery rolls that some of our slightly older members might remember! ;)
