Forum Closure
EDIT: May 2009 – Due to receiving quite a few emails with people seeking advice, I’ve implemented a very simply rudimentary forum (see the forum link at the top of the page) as a place for people to ask questions and gain advice from hopefully a variety of sources. Logging into the blog means you are automatically logged into the forum at the same time. You will need to re-register on the blog, your login in from the previous forum will not work. It’s a new registration process. This helps screen spam. This is really just a space to ask and reply to questions it won’t be moderated to the extent the previous forum was. Thanks!
So for those of you who aren’t up to speed it is true the Cakes and More Forum has closed. Typing in http://www.cakesandmore.org will shortly direct you to the blog.
It was not a decision made lightly. And as many of you may now be aware, there is much more to the story than meets the eye, but I don’t want to go into this here. It’s time for new beginnings. I truly appreciate the many well wishes and supporting thoughts and hope to keep in touch with many of you and see here on the blog. Over the coming months I’ll be trying to make sure all the useful information from the forum is published, I already have quite a few things on here. If you want to see something sooner rather than later, than feel free to contact me with your request and I’ll endeavour to move posting the information up the list.
All information that comes from the forum will be referenced either to a member directly or to member contributions as is done with many of our FAQ’s. I don’t claim this information as mine but as a collaboration bourne from discussions and research. Anyone who wishes to be referenced directly should also contact me with their request.
In addition if you’d like to contribute to the blog then again please don’t hesitate to contact me with your information and pictures if you have any! This can be anything related to cake decorating, a recipe, an experience you had decorating, a tutorial, a class, a meeting, a competition, you are only limited by your imagination. It can even be as simple as a link to a supplier or a tutorial or video you would like to see added to the links list. Hopefully I’ll be able to start adding in more of my experiences as well.
Many grateful thanks again to those who have shown such wonderful support. I don’t know what may happen down the line but for now this is the path I feel I need to focus on. Once some time has passed we may look at revisiting some other options. I hope to still see and hear from many of you. Don’t be strangers. Let’s view it as a new beginning! Really it’s just a change in format, there’s still opportunity to leave comments, ask questions, and share information and experiences.
If you’ve gotten this far and you missed out on grabbing contact details for friends from the forum, please email me with their username and I will pass your email onto them.

Hi Pam,
Just clicked onto the site to start saving information and links etc and was directed to the blog. Such a shame after all the hard work you ladies put in. I’m new to blogs and wondered if there is still a gallery of all the cakes on the blog? Sorry if this is a captain obvious question!

Hi, it’s actually Nicole! ;D Currently no gallery, I’m still deciding the best way to add a feature like that in, might go back to creating a flickr group, not sure yet! The one we had hasn’t been deleted but I’m still exploring if it’s compatible with blog. Keep an eye out for something soon. And welcome to the blog!
Thanks and sorry for calling you Pam!! lol I’m not with it today

OK, I recreated the Flickr group, just makes sense to use Flickr with the blog! You can join the group HERE. Pictures may appear in the side bar and I’ll spotlight from the group too! Cheers!
Hi Nicole,
I am happy to see we will still have contact with many of our sugar friends from the forum. I am taking my time looking through the categories on the blog, so far it is very interesting and I am excited for you. I am guessing it will continue to grow as word of mouth gets out and people begin linking friends to the blog.

Hi Shirley,
Thanks so much, thanks for stopping in, great to see you here! I’ve already a bunch of posts lined up for publishing also, so good things to come. I’m looking at it as a positive after all what is life without the continual growth of learning! I truly appreciate your support and kind comments. Look forward to chatting with you more.
Hi Nicole, The Blog looks great! I am sure it will be a raging success!! I am so pleased you are continuing to share your enthusiasm with like mined decorators…the creations that I have been exposed to over the last 12 months have been truly AMAZING! I am sure with your continued thoughtful guidance, this Blog will also produce amazing things. Please let me know whenever you are thinking of running competitions etc through the Blog as I would love the opportunity to donate a prize again to a great community such as this! Well Done! Thanks so much Fay, I will be in contact soon. Thanks for the well wishes!
Hi Nicole,
I so loved your forum, it has been the biggest support system as a beginner! Is there still a section where we can post all our cake questions for all to reply?

Hi Celeste,
Each posting has a comments section, if you can find the general information you are looking for or have a question on a post then you can simply ask in the comments area. Anyone is then welcome to answer you, it doesn’t have to just be me! ;D
If there is something specific you are after from the forum you can’t find, you use the contact page to let me know I have a bunch of posts scheduled over the coming months with lots of info but I’m happy to move things up the queue if you need it sooner.
Cheers
The blog looks great! I’m sorry to see that the forum has come to an end as it was a great source of information. I am glad to see some names that I had become familiar with on the forum here. I wish you great success and growth with your blog. Thank you for all you have done and also in ensuring that the information from the forum is not lost by continuing to share it here.

@ducky, Thanks for your kind wishes ducky, nice to see you here!
Oh Nicole,
I was so shocked to find the forum closed! I haven’t been doing much cake decorating over the holidays so I hadn’t been to the forum much this year. Yesterday I went to have a look at the gallery and kept getting a message saying it was offline. When I got the same message today I went looking for answers and here I am.
Thank you so much for continuing on with the blog and maintaining a place where we can still get Australian based information. Good luck with it all.

@ozgirl42, Hi Bettina! Glad you found us again. Don’t stay a stranger, and keep us up to date if you do anymore shows or any more flower cake tutorials ;D
Thanks for the well wishes.
Cheers Nicole
I’ve been MIA as well, starting a new school year is always busy – glad I found you again, will make sure I keep up with the latest. Very sorry that the forum has closed, eventhough I wasn’t a frequent poster, I found the details invaluable.
